Birds have entirely practical reasons for their seemingly mysterious behaviour. Modern homes with large, clean windows can confuse them completely. The glass appears invisible, leading to painful collisions. A stunned bird might then seek shelter, finding its way indoors through any available opening.
During breeding season, some birds become territorial and aggressive towards their own reflections. What appears to be frantic tapping is often a bird fighting off what it perceives as an intruder. Male robins are particularly prone to this behaviour.
Birds also follow insects, which are drawn to the warmth and light of human dwellings. A swift chasing flies might dart through an open door without hesitation. Once inside, panic sets in as it struggles to find an exit.
Chimney problems account for many mysterious indoor appearances. Birds occasionally fall down chimneys, particularly during nesting season. A sooty, distressed bird suddenly appearing in your living room seems otherworldly until you trace its actual route. Weather plays a role too: storms and high winds can drive birds to seek immediate shelter wherever they can find it.

My parents live 2 houses down from me. My mother moved my uncle in with them to take care of him bc of his health. Less than 2 weeks ago, a bird flew into my bathroom window, thru my house & out one of the side doors. I immediately told my mom & of course, we both knew it wasnt a good sign, most likely for my uncle, but given past experience, it could have been any one of us. My uncle passed on Halloween night, almost a week after the bird visited my house.
These are just my own 2 personal experiences. My brother has also had this happen with another of our uncles. A friend of mine had 2 birds fly into her home within a couple of days, & she list her grandmother & best friend within a week of each other.
The time span between the visits from the birds & the actual loss/death seems to be pretty much the same amount of time. 5-7 days.
What could be the reason ? Please elaborate.

Well I do believe that birds in the home is a sign from spirit. That's why you find black crows in cemeteries.
It was the summer of 1999 living at home
We where all special in the sense that we all had a gift of seeing spirit even the fact I was the youngest and didn't want to know or believe.
Anyway it was summer I was in the kitchen with the door open my mother was there also I turn only for a second and looked round to see this huge black crows come walking in. My mother said oh god you know what that means there is going to be a death in the family. Well only four months later my nan became sick and had to move back to our house. And she had my bed and I slept on the floor
Well she died
Now years later. I been ill for the last five years live on my own. Anyway sitting watching tv and a sparrow walks in
I scared it because if my dogs saw it they would have had it for breakfast.
I was only thinking today wondering how long I will have to suffer. My asking of God's help seems to fall on death ears
I have a friend who wants to date me.
And or be friends. I said that he could find a woman who is in good health.
As I said I don't think am going to be around for long.

In this way they were able to determine events happening elsewhere
Anyway was reading this on bus home and I though wow I reminisced about my own experience
Of my bird spirit and flight so I got home and their was a blackbird in my house needless to say
This had a profound impact on me this had to mean something although I never google till today
Last week I stood by a railway contemplating suicide as I had a bad bout of depression and today
I Google this and it says it means death needless to say again I'm thinking wow kind scary actually

When I got back downstairs 30 seconds later there was no sign of any birds.
On the floor in front of the little TV in the dining room were two dried roses which always sat on the TV...they are each from my respective parents funerals whom both died this year, in the house.
Everything else was in place, even Christmas Cards delicately sitting on the same buffet the TV sits.
How did they get in and where did they go?
What does this mean? If anything.
His dad is still mobile but fading,but when he called up to visit his dad, his dad was insisting there was a rat scratching in the wall , my cousin could also hear the noise.
So to help put his dad at ease he moved furniture to get closer to the noise and broke a hole in the plaster board wall but could see nothing.
He went to his dad's shed and got a jigsaw and made the opening much larger and what was at the bottom between the timber ! A bird. He then told me that his sister then said to him that this is a sign of death....he nor I have ever heard of this previous to this incident...freaky.
Because before my brother died a bird flew into the house and we had a hard time getting it out.
When my mother died a bird kept flying into her bedroom window trying to get in.
And when my husband died a bird set on the window ledge looking in.
Would not leave my room until I eventually opened my large window
Was just sitting waiting for me what does this mean
I pray my MRI shows no tumor day after tomorrow.

Can I ask is this normal and why is it coming, its red breasted but I would say not a robin, its taller than a robin with more elongated neck. Thanks.
This bird had to b at least 3-4ft tall with wings longer then my arms and i was 20 yrs old n 2 or 3 months prego at that time. I went through a lot of bad things in life n now things are finally okay and stable
Today 12-18-2016 a bird flew in my friends room he is atleast 60 yrs or so and he was not his happy cheerful self today like he is sad or not feeling well
Yesterday 12-17-2016 the boy in my life i like so much hit a tree with 4 other passengers in his car they are all ok!
Only white birds or birds hitting window or dies after arriving in the house is the correct superstition!

Anyway , the door was open about 10 inches. It Flew In , saw me, and immediately Flew Back out.
I'm a little concerned because I believe that birds tell us things.
If it is True, that it also means a "Change" or "travel"... well...

Two years ago a Sparrow flew into my into my Kitchen Window while I was baking Cookies. I told my Husband about the Wives Tale about a Bird flying into a House. He said that's Superstition. Two days later my Cat died.
Today while cleaning my Refrigerator a Bird flew in and stood on the Counter and watched me. When I saw the Bird I waved my Arms to get it out of the House. I am going to be positive about it. I read some people had good Luck but most of them experienced a death. Since death happened twice will the third time be a Charm?
So to cut a long story short. I absolutely believe in that old wives tale.
A fantail keeps coming into our house.
same one for the last month, I'm talking 5+ times a day. It tries to get in through one door then Flys around to each door checking if it's open. ( 3doors lead into our lounge which is surrounded by windows). When inside it hangs around mirrors and chirps away happily to us. What does this mean. I'm struggling to find any stories similar. And all seem to have a morbid take on fantail in the house. We have had no bad news just a happy little fantail obsessed with visiting.
My first impression when the bird flew in was fear, but then I felt peace when it circled around me. So, although it hurts terribly to loose my little brother, i can't help but think that the message is, I'm ok and at peace now, so don't cry for me. It's ok to cry for yourself, but know that I am now with God and all is well.
. Then I realized that there was an opening where the wood heater used to be..like a chimney. ..There was sutt..soooo. .why did the bird fly into that particular opening. ..He was trying to get out the large window. ..i opened the door .pulled the drapes back and got him free. .just curious. .
All I can say now is , as far as my family is concerned, this is no longer just a superstition!!!!!
I was pregnant at the time and two weeks later I suffered a miscarriage. The window the bird hit was also meant to be the baby's room. I keep an open mind on things like this, but very creepy!
Thing is a day after the first bird flew in the kids were in the kitchen and another bird flew in . Which they put out , I wasn't there .

One Sunday a robin flew in the room which did not seem significant at the time until my brother committed suicide a week later and his coffin was in that room.
Was this just chance or bad luck or a sign? I very much beleive in the superstition now but did not think anything of it until looking back in retrospect.
Old wive's tales come from tales handed down generation to generation for a reason. I did not mention the bird hitting the window to my husband until after his heart attack, so he did not know about it, nor does he believe in such tales. I sure do! Listen to your instinctive gut, it is what we survived on in the wild thousands of years ago, it is still there, just listen and trust, then be pro-active!
they want to know whats in the oven cooking or if the house wife is going to go out side and refill
the bird feeder.
or maybe its simpily because its looking for its small friend stewart little. or a worm in donnys tackle box.
Then today a baby Dove flew into our window and kept flapping his wings for several seconds. Was this a sign or just a baby learning how to fly. The parents of the baby Dove came to his assistance and proceeded to try to teach him how to fly. The parents flew onto my truck and the baby followed, then the parents flew onto my car, but the baby did not follow, the parents tried some other tactics in which the baby finally started to catch on.
I got out of the bath and as I approached it flew out from down under and headed back to my bathtub where it perched on my bath pillow where I just laid my head! It flew around my room - and went under a sofa. When I kneeled down to look for it it flew up and went right for the door and let itself out.
The timing of this was bizzare because I am a young widow who has been caring for my elderly mother in my home for the past year. It has been the hardest year of my life (I'm battling ovarian cancer) and I just decided yesterday to place my mom in a board and care home and to downsize to more affordable housing for my daughter and I. I also lost my dad recently as well. He and mom were married 62 years.
At first when I read the myth about birds in the house being a prelude to illness and death my heart skipped a beat. It was all so odd how it got in through a crack in the slider and than landed on my most personal of spaces.
After some thought and prayers, i chose to believe that this bird was a messenger that inhabited the spirit of my husband (and maybe my dad). The message I took away was much like, Kelly's, the other widow on this board.
I saw it as a sign that I was finally freeing myself and my daughter of the trappings of being a caregiver. My husband was ill with prostrate cancer for 7 yrs! While I have no regrets - I still have guilt about this move. This little visitor reminded me that it's time for my daughter and I to take flight and soar into a bright new future, doing something I'm not accustomed to doing, which is putting myself first.
That evening my boyfriends mother and sister called him saying that both their eye's had been twitching and it was an omen of bad luck. This occurred hours after my mother had told us about the ill omen, bad luck, and possible death omen from my mother. Two mothers warning us of ill omen coming. The mothers have never met each other in fact my mother is German - American and my boyfriend's mother and sister are Indian.
I am very nervous because I have health issues and so does my boyfriend. My doctor had just told me that I need to give the ok for a surgery asap.
I believe in omens....Always have because I have lived through many of them but never heard of these. I am assuming that this one works very fast and feel that I should be praying intensely for the next three days. Any thoughts??
a bird flew into my boyfriends house yesterday when he left the door open. The birds nest is above the door opening with 5 eggs nesting.
I have been a little worried and want to know what this could be.
I have a sparrow who comes visiting every evening to sleep on the rope (hanging outside my window to dry clothes). It stays at the very corner all silently and next morning she goes.
Making her visit again in the evening...

It took me a long time to get some glass on it without spooking it off, but I finally managed to get some video. This morning, after it's back yard attempt, it came around to the front window in the vaulted ceiling, landed and started pecking at the window. If I had not moved, trying to get my camera, there's no telling how long this would have continued.
I've read many posts today, but not one example of the same bird doing it every day for several days/weeks. Anyone have a clue on this??? I'm wide open for suggestions.
I put my hand down and petted it, just looked up at me. I then got paper and it
walked onto it, I took it outside the car it looked at me for a little while and flew off. I hope that doesn't mean a death r could it be lucky omen ?
My second experience, i live alone, now 73yrs old, my son who was 46yrs old lived in the same town. we had a long time seperate relationship, but moved close. we were able to renew and deeply loved and forgave each other. i came home from work, leaving my home locked and found a little bird quite like the one before. I new in my Spirit immediately that death was upon. no way that bird was able to get into my home, everything was locked tight, so I knew immediately. and the night/morning of Thanksgiving, he died, I was with him when he took his last breath. I know it sounds crazy, but i experienced it and I'm not suspecious at all.
In same cases though it can be a very simple explanation - the dogs food is near the door and birds just wants to eat. Had that too.

for about 2 years & he started to go down hill & a bird flew into my house at
night(which is odd in it's self) It was about 8:00PM and then I got the call from
Florida that he had passed away at 9:40PM. Very strange.
Before that they were on the roof.
I tried looking up legends and myths about the meaning of them acting so strange but couldn't find any information on it.
Maybe someone here as an idea of what it might mean.

Little did I know that not even a month later, when my husband went back to his country where we also have an apartment, he died there alone and in the bathroom. Never have I thought that bird flying into the house or on a ledge on my window would be considered a bad omen.
The bird out the house by opening my front door, I was raised knowing that
If a black bird flies in your house means deaf, but all I could do is pray that deaf
don't come near MT family.
No one died.
Now looking back, I think the birds were a sign of death to the relationship/marriage and my grandmother was trying to tell me that the husband would be gone....she never said dead, but I did misinterpret it that way.
Every year on my birthday in August, a hummingbird will fly around me. No lie!! When I walk outside, I will see a hummingbird and it will be about a foot or so from my head. This NEVER happens any other day of the year. I tell myself it is my grandmothers way of saying happy birthday!
The first time, I heard this loud combination of noise and flapping of wings. It is a noise that you cannot easily identify (for example like the barking of dogs, people talking or gate opening). I cannot describe that noise but it is something that is so arresting that you have to go and investigate. So when I went to the front door, the noise ceased immediately and I saw a bird flew away from it. I later found that one of my relatives has died.
The second time, I heard the same kind of noise at my front door. I was busy in another room and because the noise kept going for quite a while. It seemed very persistent to alert me, so much so that, I can't help but go and and investigate.
I opened my wooden door and looked through the security door and I saw this bird flapping its wings on the walkway and thrashing about. I watched it for a while wondering what it was doing. Then, I decided it must be wounded and I opened the security door and went out and the minute I held it in my hands, it went cold and stiff. And I felt this strange sensation go through me. I found out later that my grandma has passed away.
After that incident, I also have another similar experience but not with a bird. I heard the same kind of noise and I found out later a dear friend of mine has died.
After this, I am convinced now that the spirit do come back to inform loved ones of their death.
